Review: IQ

IQ IQ by Joe Ide
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

IQ is a man who knows how to solve problems. From his teen years, he was able to think his way out of problems and stay one step ahead of everyone else. That's why his services are in demand, especially with a famous, wealthy rapper who is being targeted.

This book has great writing--the scenes are well put together so that the reader feels like they are really there, watching it all unfold. Although it appears to be a typical mystery/suspense book, it's unconventional in that it doesn't star a balding white guy saving the day. IQ is from rougher neighborhoods, hasn't been a model citizen, but is redeeming himself however can can by helping people when they need a problem solved. While the mystery of who was trying to kill Cal came to a dull thud at the end, this definitely leaves the author poised to pen another IQ novel.
