Review: Hello Goodbye Hello: A Circle of 101 Remarkable Meetings

Hello Goodbye Hello: A Circle of 101 Remarkable Meetings
Hello Goodbye Hello: A Circle of 101 Remarkable Meetings by Craig Brown

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hello Goodbye Hello: A Circle of 101 Remarkable Meetings by Craig Brown is a fun look at some of the stranger meetings of history that include royalty, writers, poets, dancers and icons of pop culture. The book provides a meeting between two people, then the next pair includes one from the previous pair.

The book is written with each story being exactly 1001 words long, which is a bit gimicky, but does play to the whole cyclical structure of the stories. It is actually impressive that the stories do not seem truncated due to this, but it does add the need for quite a few footnotes. Overall, this book is entertaining and provides a little more insight into the eccentricities that can appear throughout history.
