The Love Song of Jonny Valentine by Teddy Wayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Love Song of Jonny Valentine by Teddy Wayne is an interesting look into the life of a young, talented pop star. Although Jonny Valentine is just eleven years old, he has fans all over the world singing his songs every single night. He also has his own mother managing his career. During his U.S. tour, he discovers a lot of things about himself, the industry and his own past.
Although this is a well-written book, it is a little annoying that all I could think about while reading it was Justin Bieber. However, the parallels to the real pop star's life seemed to fit with Jonny Valentine. I also liked how Jonny's obsession with his video game was working to help him learn the various life lessons throughout the book. Though Jonny is a world famous pop star, he's still just a kid trying to make it through to the next point in his life. Overall, it is a decent read and would be enjoyed by anyone who wants to see the more corrupted side of fame.
