Review: One Plus One
One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the kind of book you just can't put down. In One Plus One, Jess is a single mother of two (one of which isn't technically hers), dealing with money issues, husband issues and her children's setbacks. Tanzie is math whiz and Nicky is being bullied and abused for being different. Along with all of this, Tanzie is accepted to a prestigious private school, but it is too expensive.
Then in walks Ed. While he is dealing with accusations of insider trading, he comes to the rescue in an interesting way to Jess and her family. It helps him to forget his problems for awhile to have the task of taking the whole family to a competition for Tanzie to win some money.
Overall, this was a well written book. Although British, it is not overly regional like some other British novels I have read, which makes it easier to relate to the characters. I also liked the varying perspectives so that you get to know the ins and outs of all the characters. This is something I would recommend to anyone who likes a good tale.
